After our 2 year old son, Jeremy, was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in 1997 , I called the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for information about the disease and treatment. Like most people, I knew almost nothing about the disease.  The people at the Leukemia Society in Orange County were quick to send me information about Jeremy's type of leukemia.  They also put me in touch with another parent with a daughter that  had gone through chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant and survived AML.  

The people in Patient Services also talked to me on the phone and gave me a great deal of useful information about the treatment that Jeremy would go through.  She also directed me to several websites that helped me get information about the latest treatments for leukemia.

To show our gratitude to this great organization, Vickie and I organized two fundraising efforts in 2000 and 2001 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
